    The Scope of the works

The works consist of the construction of New Roads, Lanes and Resurfacing of Roads and related works within the Township of Vacoas-Phoenix.

Procurement method was through open advertised bidding.

Bids were launched on 10th and 11th February 2010 in the Local Press.

The closing date for the submission of bids was 17th March 2010 in the Conference Room of the Central Procurement  Board.

Afin d’améliorer la propreté de la ville de Vacoas-Phoenix les propriétaires, occupants ou autres personnes ayant droit sur les terrains vagues ou bâtiments délabrés se trouvant dans les limites de la ville sont avisés qu’ils doivent impérativement nettoyer leur/s terrain/s ou démolir leurs bâtiment délabrés dans un délai de quinze jours (15) à partir de la date de ce communiqué

A défaut, les contrevenants vont être sanctionner.

Le conseil se réserve aussi le droit de nettoyer les terrains vagues dans un état d’abandon et qui sont souvent convertis en dépotoirs où sont entassés détritus, carcasses de véhicules etc. et les frais encourus seront réclamés aux propriétaires/occupants ou autres ayants droit.

Le public est informé qu’un service de voirie spécial sera mis à leur disposition contre paiement de trois cent roupies afin d’enlever toute ordure encombrante de leurs propriétés.

This is to notify that, following the bidding exercise carried out by the Municipal Council of Vacoas-Phoenix for the procurement of the works known as the Construction of a Multi storey Building at Vacoas, the contract has been awarded to Messrs Chang Cheng Esquares Co. Ltd of 112, Corner Sodnac and Des Tulipes Avenue, Quatres Bornes for the sum of Rupees one hundred and thirty three million five hundred and ninety one thousand four hundred and forty six and cents twenty five only (Rs 133,591,446.25).

Project: Construction of Roads, Lanes and Resurfacing of Roads
for financial year 2010

CPB Ref: CPB/15/2010

  1. The Municipal Council of Vacoas-Phoenix through the Central Procurement Board invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the Construction of Roads, Lanes and Resurfacing of Roads for financial year 2010.
  2. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from the Head Works Department,  Mr S. Permala either through mvp@mcvp.intnet.mu or by calling at the Municipal Council of Vacoas-Phoenix from 9.00 to 15.00 hrs.
  3. Qualifications requirements include:
    • Contractors having technical capacity, resources and sound financial standing, and
    • As per other qualifying criteria mentioned in the Bidding Document.
  4. A complete set of Bidding Documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders at the address mentioned below and upon payment of a non refundable fee of Mauritian Rupees Two thousand         (Rs 2,000).  The method of payment will be by cash or a crossed Banker’s cheque made to the order of the Municipal Council of Vacoas-Phoenix.
  5. Bids must be delivered to the address mentioned below at or before 13.30 hrs (local time) at latest on Wednesday 17th March 2010. Electronic bidding shall not be permitted.  Late bids will be rejected.  Bids will be open in the presence of bidders / bidders’ representatives who choose to attend in the conference room at the address mentioned below on 17th March 2010 at 14.00 hours.
  6. All bids shall be valid up to 14th June 2010.

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A REINFORCED CONCRETE BRIDGE WITH ASSOCIATED WORKS AT JEROME TRANQUILLE ROAD, VACOAS

This is to notify that, following the bidding exercise carried out by the Municipal Council of Vacoas-Phoenix for the Design and Construction of a reinforced concrete bridge with associated works at Jerome Tranquille Road, Vacoas (reference no.26/08/09); the contract has been awarded to Kisten Enterprise Co.Ltd of Chamouny Road, Chemin Grenier for the sum of Rs.5,520,000/-.

COLLECTION OF GREEN WASTES

The inhabitants residing within the jurisdiction of the Municipal Council of Vacoas/Phoenix are hereby informed that special services are provided for the collection of green wastes of an approximate volume of above half a lorry load. For this purpose trailers/lorries are provided upon payment of a sum of Rs 300.00 per lorry trip.
A request should be made to the Health and Environment Department for such collection. After a date and time for collection is agreed upon, such request will be confirmed after the abovementioned payment is made.
Please kindly be informed that the above collection service refers to only green wastes and does not include rocks, soil, construction wastes and any other inorganic wastes such as metallic wastes.

COLLECTION OF DEAD ANIMAL

The inhabitants residing within the jurisdiction of the Municipal Council of Vacoas/Phoenix are hereby informed that a special service is provided for the collection of dead animal carcass (e.g dead dog).
Request for such collection can be made by telephone on the following numbers:

686-4306 from 06hrs00 to 18hrs00 on Saturdays.
686-4306 from 06hrs00 to noon on Sundays.

SOLIDARITY TO VICTIMS OF PAKISTAN

The Municipal Council of Vacoas - Phoenix is organizing a fund raising activity from 20th August to 25th August 2010 for victims of flood in Pakistan which will thereafter be remitted to the Telethon Fund on 26th August 2010.

Friendship City Relationship with the Nantong, Jiangsu Province

The Municipal Council of Vacoas/Phoenix signed an agreement for the establishment of Friendship City Relationship with the Nantong, Jiangsu Province of the People’s Republic of China on 31st July 2010 in the Council Room, Town Hall, Vacoas.

Debate Contest 2010

This Council organised a Debate Contest for LVI students from secondary schools of the town. The final was held on 17th May 2010.The Winning teams represented the town of Vacoas Phoenix for the AUA Debate Contest held in June 2010.

The Council organised a Quiz Competition for Form IV students from secondary schools of the town on 20 May 2010. The Winning team and the Runner-up represented the town in the AUA Quiz Competition held on 26 May 2010.
