Roads, Drains and Street Lighting

The Council processes application for the following :

(a) Asphalting, resurfacing or repair of roads.
(b) Repairs and construction of drains.
(c) Repairs and fixing of lanterns.

Upon receipt of requests or complaints, site visits are effected by the responsible inspector and reports are prepared and submitted to the Head Public Infrastructure Department.

For minor repairs, the works are included in the program of works and carried out by the respective section.

For major works such as asphalting of roads, construction of drains and installation of lanterns, recommendations of the Head Public Infrastructure Department are forwarded to the Works Committee for approval.

Drain and road works that have been approved are either done by in-house labour or by Contractors and street lighting works are done by in-house labour.
