Who can use the facilities available at the municipal cemeteries?
A
Municipal cemeteries are open for burial to the inhabitants of the Municipal Council of Vacoas Phoenix and the relatives. However, the crematorium is open for cremation irrespective of the place of residence

I have a plot at the cemetery. My deceased relative was not a resident of the township. Can he be buried in the municipal cemetery?
A
If you own a private plot, subject to compliance otherwise of the regulations burial is done on your written request irrespective of the place of residence of the deceased.
Q
The deceased is not a relative of mine; can I have him interred in my private plot?
A
Subject to compliance of the regulations, burial is made on your written authorisation irrespective of your relation to the deceased

My late parent owned a private plot; can I recover it?
A

If you are the sole heir to the plot, you are required to submit an affidavit to that effect.
If you are one of the heirs, you so inform the solicitor for the inclusion of the consent of all the other heirs in the affidavit.

Q I want to put a memorial on a grave; am I authorised to do so?
A You have to submit a written request to the officer at the cemetery office and obtain a written authorisation to do so. However, this is authorised to owners of private graves only.
